    Observing report for CIMES 2006
The Machine Tools & Factory Automation BG took part in the seventh running of the Chinese International Machinery & Equipment Show, which was held in Beijing June 12-16. The biennial event attracts many of the worlds¡¯ top makers of tools, machine tools and related parts, including Mori Seiki, Okuma and Yamazaki Mazak of Japan; Haas Automation of the US and DMG of Germany. Doosan Infracore exhibited five turning centers and two machining centers while engaging in an aggressive marketing effort that targets the Chinese market in particular. Six of the seven machines on display were produced by the company¡¯s local subsidiary. Moreover, the Machine Tools & Factory Automation BG hosted technical seminars on machining parts, machining molds, and multifunction machining. The sessions helped to boost customer confidence in the company and its machine tools.

The competition in China is heating up. Currently most of the major machine tool manufacturers from Japan, Germany and other foreign countries are making inroads into the market, while the local makers are expanding their sales by cutting prices. However, the Chinese economy continues to grow, prompting steady increases in new facilities investment..Thus, the machine tool market is expected in expand, and Doosan Infracore aims to increase its market share by localizing operations and pursuing an aggressive marketing strategy. The company continues to bolster its global image as well. Doosan Infracore is attending the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), one of the world¡¯s top three machine tool fairs, in the US this coming September, followed by the Indian Machine Tool Exhibition (IMTEX) next January. Moreover, the in-house Doosan Infracore International Machine tools Fair (DIMF 2007) is scheduled for next year
